What should I do?”]

Thank you for reaching out and taking the time to help the animal!

We will try our very best to help you and the animal, but please understand that our financial and human resources are very limited, and sadly, in case our Recovery Center is full, we will be unable to accept the animal. We strongly depend on individual donations, and at times, we simply do not have the resources to respond to every emergency call.  Believe us, this breaks our hearts, which is why you play an important role too!

NOTE: We are based in Phnom Penh only.

What are the next steps?

1. Please call our office 012340114 (English and Khmer) or send an email to info@ar-cambodia.com. We will then be able to tell you whether we currently have space available. If it is an emergency, please do NOT send an email as the animal needs immediate help! We may need 1-2 days to respond to your email, therefore a phone call is much preferred. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm.

NOTE: Baby animals without a mother are an emergency! They need to eat every 2 hours. But please be careful: Only feed special kitten/puppy milk. Do not feed regular cow milk. It is not nutritious and the kitten/puppy will starve and pass away of malnutrition. Keep it warm with a heating pad, or hot water bottle, as it otherwise may pass away due to hypothermia. They also cannot urinate and defecate on their own. Please gently massage the bottom area with a towel, to help the kitten/puppy relieve itself.

2. If we have space available, please bring the animal to us! We are a small team and unfortunately, cannot easily pick up all animals that are found. Please do everything you can to bring the animals to us.

3. Consider temporarily fostering the animal, until treatments are completed. This way, we have more space for animals in need. Talk to our Adoption Coordinator about our foster program via info@ar-cambodia.com .

4. Please donate! 1 USD, 5 USD, or 100 USD. It all counts and helps us to do more! Details here: www.ar-cambodia.com/donation

5.If our center is at full capacity, or if you are calling outside our office hours (we will not be able to answer the phone), please contact the following in Phnom Penh:

VSL Veterinary Clinic
Agrovet
Chamnan Veterinary Clinic
EuroVet
Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society (shelter available)
Aminovet
Poupone Veterinary Clinic
Animal Mama (shelter available).

Siem Reap:

Siem Reap Veterinary Care

Ouk Hok Sy Veterinary

Siem Reap Pagoda Cats

Paw Patrol

Kampot and Sihanoukville:

Sihanoukville Animal Welfare Cambodia (yes, they are also in Kampot)

Tip: Help the animal even if you cannot keep it! Foster it until it is healthy, then either release or rehome it.

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”I can no longer care for my dog/cat. Can I bring it to you?”]

Unfortunately we cannot take the animal as we reserve the limited space we have for those that need it the most.

You could contact Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society or Animal Mama to see if they have space available.

Alternatively, if leaving Cambodia, consider taking the animal with you! Most countries have requirements that are easily met, and costs may not be has high as you expect. Do not try to find information on google. It may stress you out. Contact a clinic that is familiar with relocations such as VSL Veterinary Clinic, Agrovet or Pet Services Cambodia. You could also find information on the facebook group “Expets Cambodia”.

There is always a way. Please remember, “to you, they may only be part of your life, but to them, you are their whole life”.

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”Can you advertise my cat/dog on your facebook page or website?”]

Unfortunately we cannot accept requests to advertise animals of third parties because we do not know the animals. We have very strict adoption rules regarding our rescues and we cannot assure that your animal has had health check ups, necessary treatments etc. We promise those that adopt from us that our animals have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and treated. We also promise transparency regarding permanent health or behavioral issues. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee these requirements from third parties.

Furthermore, we get requests to advertise animals on a daily basis. If we choose to accept one such request, we will have to accept them all. As you hopefully understand, this is not the purpose of our page.  Luckily however, there are facebook groups that are dedicated towards the rehoming of animals.

To find a suitable home, we recommend the following facebook groups: Dogs and Cats Cambodia; Cambodia Pets Network; Cambodia Pet Adoption & Rescue; Locals and Expats living in Phnom Penh, etc. There are many more – either in English or Khmer!

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”I lost my pet. Can you help?”]

Please provide us with good photos and details about your animal. If we find it, we will contact you immediately.

Please note, we are unable to post for you on our facebook page but we recommend the following facebook groups: Dogs and Cats Cambodia; Cambodia Pets Network; Cambodia Pet Adoption & Rescue; Locals and Expats living in Phnom Penh, Kampot Noticeboard, Locals and Expats living in Siem Reap, etc.

What to do immediately:

Talk to all tuktuk drivers and street vendors in your area. Show them photos and offer them a generous reward. This way you have more people looking for your pet. Remind them every day. A reward is highly advised, as people will be much more likely to look for your animal. Please also consider taking some time off work and look for your animal several hours every day. The first few hours/days are very crucial. Post your animal all over facebook and repost regularly.

Your animal may be scared and hiding during the day. Try to find it in the later evenings, when it is quiet and dark!

Animals can smell from far distances. Consider placing clothes, litter, bedding, or similar near your house/apartment where the animal was lost. It may find its way back to it.

We hope you will find your animal again and we are sorry to hear you and your pet have to go through this.

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”Can you help wildlife?”]

ARC focuses mainly on cats and dogs. We may be able to help out with other small pets, but we are not equipped to help and treat wild animals. Please contact Wildlife Alliance for support. Their wildlife crime hotline is 012500094 or message here: https://www.facebook.com/WCHCambodia/

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”Which veterinary clinics and organizations do you recommed?”]

Many veterinary clinics in Cambodia do not have the knowledge to treat dogs and cats. Please be VERY careful when choosing a veterinary clinic for your pet. Unqualified veterinarians often give medications to animals that can kill your pet!

We recommend the following clinics and organizations:

Phnom Penh:

VSL Veterinary Clinic
Agrovet
Chamnan Veterinary Clinic
EuroVet
Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society (shelter available)
Aminovet
Poupone Veterinary Clinic
Animal Mama (shelter available).

Siem Reap:

Siem Reap Veterinary Care

Ouk Hok Sy Veterinary

Siem Reap Pagoda Cats

Paw Patrol

Kampot and Sihanoukville:

Sihanoukville Animal Welfare Cambodia (yes, they are also in Kampot)

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”Can you treat my sick/injured pet?”]

We focus on neutering, veterinary training and street animal care. We would like for our veterinary team to have as much time as possible to treat street animals. Hence, we do not offer a veterinary clinic for pet owners. To get your pet treated, we recommend the following clinics:

Phnom Penh:

VSL Veterinary Clinic
Agrovet
Chamnan Veterinary Clinic
EuroVet
Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society (shelter available)
Aminovet
Poupone Veterinary Clinic
Animal Mama (shelter available).

Siem Reap:

Siem Reap Veterinary Care

Ouk Hok Sy Veterinary

Siem Reap Pagoda Cats

Paw Patrol

Kampot and Sihanoukville:

Sihanoukville Animal Welfare Cambodia (yes, they are also in Kampot)

[/cmsms_toggle][cmsms_toggle title=”I want to bring my animal across borders. Can you help?”]

We do not do international pet relocations. Please contact a clinic that is familiar with relocations such as VSL Veterinary Clinic, Agrovet, Siem Reap Veterinary Care or Pet Services Cambodia. You could also find information on the facebook group “Expets Cambodia”.
